Overview
By selecting the High Quality checkbox, on the Option Page of the Screen Capture tab it is possible to improve the visual appearance of text and other annotation objects on replay. It will also improve the quality when the preview window has been scaled.
How the High Quality replay mode works
In High Quality mode the annotation objects are drawn at twice the capture resolution and then re-sampled to increase quality and accuracy.
Side effects of High Quality mode
The process of over-sampling used to improve the quality of the output increases the processing overhead. It may be the case that on very slow machines this increased overhead can cause problems during playback with the synchronization of the graphics and any audio. In such cases the High Quality option should not be selected. There may also be a slight difference in the position of annotation text as the True-Type font rendering is more accurate in High Quality mode. In such cases it is advisable to check where the objects will be displayed with the High Quality option checked and unchecked. Any discrepancies can be managed by ensuring there is an appropriate distance between objects and by ensuring that text objects are large enough to display the text in both modes.
